Onias G. Martin (1919 -1945)

If you have information on how Onias Martin of Madawaska, Maine is related to my Martin family lines, I would appreciate hearing from you. According to the 2007 St John Valley Edition of Paper Talks on page 37, Onias was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and attached to the 85th Tank Battalion, 5th Armored Division in Europe. 2LT Martin lost his life on the side of a farm road not far from the French village of Bonnetable. The people of Bonnetable considered Onias their liberator and have erected an impressive stone monument commemorating Lt Martin's efforts. Based on information in the Martin Family Reunion book, I was able to tie Onias G. Martin into the family tree. He was my father's second cousin, since both Onias and my father, Claude Roy, shared a common great-grandfather, Isaie Martin.

 Mystery Photos

Soucy Hill Farm

Need help in identifying people in this photo. The Paper Talks, In The St John Valley, 1993 edition on page 17 shows the names as Theophile Soucie, Willie Soucie, Tom Soucie, Alcide Tardie and Ida Soucie (on the porch). Photo was courtesy of Mrs. Laurette Tardie. I remember seeing a picture at home that had different names and also included the names of some of the horses.
