    Notes:

    Duke of Brabant. Reigning from 1190 to 1235, he was the 2nd Duke of Brabant and is said to have "assumed the title." He was also know as "le Guerroyeur", "the Pious", and "the Warrior". He was the husband of Mathilde of Boulogne. (Find a Grave memorial)

    During the Middle Ages, Brabant was often referred to as Basse-Lorraine. This was Lower Lorraine, not be be confused with Haute-Lorraine, that is, Upper Lorraine, or modern Alsace-Lorraine. (American-Canadian Genealogist, Issue 82, Volume 25, Number 4, 1999, footnote 17, page 190)

  2. 3.  Marie de France, Duchess of Brabant was born in 1198 in Bapaume, Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France (Daughter of Philippe II de France, King of France and Agnes de Meranie); died on 1 Aug 1238; was buried in St Peter's Church, Leuven, Flemish Brabant, Flanders, Belgium.

    Notes:

    Royalty, daughter of Philippe II de France and Agnes de Andechs. She married Philippe I, Marquis de Namur in 1206 but was widowed again in 1212. In 1213 she was married to Henri I of Brabant. (Find a Grave)
