WWII Veterans

The database of WWII Veterans in Northern Aroostook was extracted from multiple information sources, including the 2006-2007 Paper Talks St John Valley Edition, articles from the Bangor Daily News (BDN) in 1943-1945, and the National Archives which provided the U.S. Army World War II Enlistment records and casualty listings.

The St John Community center had a framed copy of the BDN article on the men who served from their town. Mom and Aunt Rella had a copy of the BDN page on veterans from Eagle Lake and Winterville. The Lozier-O'Grady VFW Post in Fort Kent also allowed me to take pictures of the news clippings they had of men who served from Fort Kent, Maine. The Acadian Archives at the University of Maine in Fort Kent also allowed me to take pictures of the BDN article listing the men from Fort Kent.

A special thanks to John Bouchard, at the Lozier-O'Grady VFW Post, and to Anne Chamberland at the Acadian Archives at the University of Maine at Fort Kent for their help.

The database was updated on 11 November 2017 and now includes World War II Veterans from multiple towns in the St John River Valley. See the tribute to the Veterans of Frenchville, St Agatha, and Sinclair, Maine that was added to YouTube for Veterans Day 2017.
